From John Williamson's performance in 2013 on top of the Big Red Dune, the Birdsville Big Red Bash has grown to an award-winning three-day multi-artist festival featuring performers such as Midnight Oil, Jimmy Barnes, John Farnham, Missy Higgins, Icehouse, Kate Ceberano, Paul Kelly, James. The event, which is staged at the Big Red Dune 35km west of Birdsville in the Simpson Desert, is the most remote music festival in the world - and has been operating continuously since 2013, other than a Covid enforced break in 2020.
